Maths Probability, Friday Week 1

Hi Parents and Caregivers,

We are learning about probability in Room 22 this term. With probability we are seeing the likelihood of simple events and learning about how to use everyday language to talk about chance.

Some key words we are learning: same, different, pairs, lucky, luckier, most, least, next, last.

On friday we looked at the story 'Jack and the beanstalk'. We talked about key items Jack saw on the way to get the magic beans and on the way to the giants castle. The Key words we used were: certain, possible, or impossible. For example: Is it certain, possible or impossible that Jack will see a tree on his way to the market? Answer: Certain. Is it certain, possible or impossible that Jack will see a hedgehog on his way to the market? Answer: Possible. Is it certain, possible or impossible that Jack will see a octopus on his way to the market? Answer: Impossible.

Please view the hyperlink below to listen to the BBC 'Jack and the beanstalk' story.

Thank you, Room 22
